Pas Avec Toi

The view from our hotel room back in Paris.
School has start now. Which means, summer is finally over.
I can't help but to miss those tiring days when we would hop on into a bus or a train and jump into one country after another and got lost in Barcelona or roamed around during midnight in the streets of Paris.

Nevertheless, school was pretty much fun (homeworks and annoying teachers aside!)

And it is the turtle's girl's, Lidya, birthday today!! Check out this birthday video that Katina made for her! ;)

Kaythxbai. Now, back to the never ending piles of my homeworks.

And when the sun rise, this all must come to a cheesy end.

And he was a sweet friend.

"Gradually the awful truth dawns on you: that Santa Claus was just the tip of the iceberg – that your future will not be the rollercoaster ride you’d imagined, that the world occupied by your parents, the world of washing the dishes, going to the dentist, weekend trips to the DIY superstore to buy floor-tiles, is actually largely what people mean when they speak of ‘life’. Now, with every day that passes, another door seems to close, the one marked PROFESSIONAL STUNTMAN, or FIGHT EVIL ROBOT, until as the weeks go by and the doors – GET BITTEN BY SNAKE, SAVE WORLD FROM ASTEROID, DISMANTLE BOMB WITH SECONDS TO SPARE – keep closing, you begin to hear the sound as a good thing, and start closing some yourself, even ones that didn’t necessarily need to be closed." - Skippy Dies (Paul Murray)
 Currently reading. It's really good.

SuperWarhol

Caught a fever and still suffering from my jet lag, so I decided to stay in bed today and read the SuperWarhol book that I bought in Paris a few weeks ago.
It was very thick and incredibly heavy, but it was sold in a very reasonable price and it was worth it anyway.

One of Warhol's quotes in the book.
The thing about Warhol is that his artworks are very bold and bright and controversial and vivid and it could be both categorized as commercial and non-commercial art. I love the fact that he designed ads but also did his own independent works.

I don't know why, but I'm more interested in seeing Warhol working (especially when he's shooting) rather than by just looking at his works. It's not like I didn't like his artworks - I love them! - it's just that most artists are either quite or very private but Warhol was loud when it comes to his ideas and opinions. I can say that I do not agree in all of his ideals, but I highly appreciate his confidence.

The first ever Warhol's work that I ever encountered wasn't the Campbells Soup ad, surprisingly. It was The Velvet Underground's album cover. And it was amazing.
"Robert Mapplethorpe", one of my personal favorites.

As you can see, I'm a sucker when it comes to black and white photos.

This has been a long post.

Good night, x

But this is how the story ends

"I don’t want to live in vain like most people. I want to be useful or bring enjoyment to all people, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death." – Anne Frank

It was raining cats and dogs on our last day in Amsterdam. The summer warmth has vanished along with the rain as everyone went out of their houses with boots and jackets and umbrellas.

We went to the city to visits the museums there.
Despite of the rain and the cold harsh wind that was blowing non-stop, people are coming from all over the places to visit the museums and other tourists places and we ended up skipping the first two museums in our itinerary due to the very long queue.

The queue in the Rijsk museum wasn't any better than the rest. But it's the shortest among all and we didn't have anywhere else to go so we joined up the long line.

After lunch, we decided to skip the Van Gogh museum and went directly to Anne Frank's house. I was looking forward to it that I didn't mind standing under the rain for an hour and a half as we waited in the queue before we finally got in. (The wind was strong enough to break one of our umbrellas, but we managed)

They didn't let us take pictures in any of the museums that we'd visited so I splurged the last of my euros on postcards as souvenirs for myself. The photo on the left was on display at the beginning of our tour in the house along with a quote from Anne, and Mom & I almost teared up right then right there.

Went to a pancake house for our last kaffeetrinken after the rain stopped. They served really great poffertjes.

We took the bus home so we could be on time for dinner. I can't believe that this journey has to end.

It All Ends

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
-Albus Dumbledore

I can't believe that the magical world that I have believe in since I was a kid has to end right here.
I was obsessed with the Harry Potter series eversince I first watched the first movie.
With all the wands and the charms and the pretty robes with cool dorms and also wacky shops with wizards flying back and forth, it's kinda hard not to be charmed with the wonders of it from the first sight.
So, of course, as a dedicated fan, this final movie is a matter of life and death for moi.
Aaaand I was unfortunate enough to be in German due to summer vacay when the movie premiered and I was already halfway to the cinema when I finally found out that the movie is dubbed in German so I won't be able to understand a single thing.
Then we went to Amsterdam only to found out that I would be dragged into tons of museums and there's no time for movies and the next thing I know we'll be on our plane back to Indonesia.

GAAAAHHH!

So let's just hope that they will show the movie in Medan when I come back or else my entire life would be ruined.

blargh.

holla!

This has been the umpteenth time I have tried to run a blog, so let's just hope that this won't fall short as the others had.

Oh. And I'm Febie.

And here is where I'm going to post my stupidity, my absurdly mundane daily life, the stuffs that are running crazy around my head and things that utterly fascinate me.

So, bienvenue!
